LA PUNTA DE LOS REMEDIOS, DIBULLA, LA GUAJIRA, COLOMBIA – AUGUST 31, 2025 Celebration, or party, where several families and friends had gathered, became the site of a massacre. A group of armed men stormed the event and began shooting indiscriminately at everyone. The exact number of victims and injured has not yet been released. Witness videos currently circulating online show the horror of the attack – several people lie on the ground with bloodstains, and the scene is filled with fear and panic.

Witnesses reported that the attack happened suddenly and unexpectedly. No one had a chance to defend themselves or hide. The armed assailants targeted everyone indiscriminately. Authorities have not yet confirmed the identities of the victims or any possible motives behind the attack. Security in the area has been reinforced with an increased presence of police and military forces.
The La Guajira region has experienced at least 11 similar massacres over the past five years. The area is plagued by the activities of drug cartels, criminal organizations, as well as deserters from FARC and members of the National Liberation Army (ELN).
