PIRENÓPOLIS, FEDERAL DISTRICT, BRAZIL – APRIL 21, 2024 Clédio Vilela Cardoso was a 50-year-old (some sources say 53) militant police officer in reserve. Otherwise, he lived alone on a remote rural property about 18 miles from Pirenópolis, worked as a farmer, and kept 6 dogs. From time to time he also went to Sunday mass at church. But when he didn’t show up there for a long while, people from the church went to look for him. He was found dead at his home on the floor in a skeletonized state.
A police investigation began, which revealed that he was last seen alive on April 10, eleven days before his corpse was discovered. Since such a short time would not be enough for all decomposition processes to reduce him to a skeleton, it is assumed that he was eaten by his own dogs, who had no other food available.
Forensic teams found no evidence of violence or forced entry at the scene. Clédio’s remains were transported to a medical institute for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, but its results are unknown.
