Erivelton and Maria were declared dead at the scene upon the arrival of rescuers. Kaliane was transported to a hospital in Sousa in critical condition. Updates on her condition are not available.
The incident once again highlights the importance of obeying traffic rules and basic safety, especially for motorcyclists. You don’t have crumple zones like in a car, and you can move very fast while being easily overlooked. This makes you some of the most vulnerable participants on the road. Anticipate, think ahead for others, and don’t drive fast. Stay safe and alive!
