Girl fatally crushed by garbage truck

MANAUS, AMAZONAS, BRAZIL – MARCH 21, 2025 On 11th Street in the União da Vitória district, a tragic accident occurred in which a 6-year-old girl died. Her mother had sent her to buy bread at a nearby store. On the way, she stepped directly in front of a garbage truck. She thought it was safe because the truck was stationary, but the driver started moving just as she was in his blind spot and ran over her.

Another child who witnessed the entire event tried in vain to prevent the accident. The boy tried to warn her, shouting for her to be careful. She likely did not hear him or was unable to react in time.

The garbage truck operators immediately noticed the girl lying on the road and, with the help of bystanders, ensured she was rushed to the hospital. She was pronounced dead there.

The incident serves as a warning to all parents. Children this young are usually not mature enough to fully assess traffic risks and should never be left unsupervised.
