The conflict, which erupted in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) under Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, has devastated the nation. Fighting has raged mostly in the capital Khartoum and the Darfur region, leaving thousands dead, cities destroyed, and millions displaced. Despite global pressure, peace remains elusive, and Sudan teeters on the brink of collapse.
