CALDAS, ANTIOQUIA, COLOMBIA – JANUARY 22, 2026 Contract killing took place in a butcher shop in the Olaya Herrera district. In the early morning hours, a man wearing a white striped poncho and a motorcycle helmet entered the shop. He waited for the right moment while pretending to be a customer. He then pulled out a gun and shot one of the butchers, 42-year-old José Ferney Puerta Moncada, who was standing behind the counter, killing him.
One of the butcher’s coworkers, who was outside the shop at the time, immediately reacted to the gunfire. He bravely jumped on the hitman from behind and grabbed him around the neck. In panic, the hitman fired several more shots, but fortunately did not hit anyone else. The butcher managed to hold him until the police arrived and arrested the killer. In the meantime, local residents beat him.
Police stated that the detained suspect is a 28-year-old man. Before being placed in custody, he had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. He suffered head and facial injuries. His 9 mm revolver with 26 rounds of ammunition was also seized.
