VERÓN, PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – FEBRUARY 16, 2026 Tragic case of femicide has shaken the tourist area of Verón–Punta Cana. In the Lotificación Verón sector, a brutal attack occurred on 35-year-old Violette Jean Baptista, whom her former partner, identified as Bienvenido Tusen José, attacked with a machete. The attack was so intense that the victim suffered devastating injuries, including the amputation of a hand, and succumbed to massive bleeding at the scene.
According to the testimony of a neighbor who heard desperate screams from the ground-floor apartment at the fateful moment, the aggressor tried to mask the act until the last moment. When the witness met him leaving the building and asked about Violette, he coolly replied that the woman had already left. The truth came to light only when the neighbor entered the apartment and found the victim lying in a pool of blood. Police at the scene seized the murder weapon – a nearly half-meter-long machete – and the victim’s mobile phone, which now serve as the main evidence in the ongoing investigation.
