BAEPENDI, MINAS GERAIS, BRAZIL – FEBRUARY 27, 2026 Twenty-seven-year-old Amanda Arantes was just participating in the funeral procession of her own mother when two men on a motorcycle arrived at the crowd in front of the church. One of them jumped off and fired three times at Amanda from close range.

While the terrified mourners scattered, the attackers fled the scene. Amanda was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, where her condition remains stable. The police have already achieved a first breakthrough in the search – they discovered a hidden motorcycle in a nearby forest and detained one suspect, who provided very contradictory information during interrogation. The police are still searching for the second perpetrator, who was directly holding the weapon.
