CARTAGENA, COLOMBIA – MARCH 11, 2026 Young man nicknamed “Chiqui” committed an armed robbery of a woman on the street. Bystanders immediately alerted a police patrol, which chased the suspect to the Ceballos neighborhood. During the escape, he fired at the police, who returned fire.
The shootout ended when Chiqui suffered severe gunshot wounds and collapsed. Local residents transported him to Nuevo Bosque Hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.
Local residents expressed great relief at his death, saying he had been the source of all problems in the community due to frequent thefts, armed robberies, and extreme aggression. He had reportedly attacked several pedestrians and mototaxi drivers in the past.
