GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE – OCTOBER 17, 2023 During the war in Gaza, a large explosion occurred in the area of Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza. At that time, many civilians were sheltering in the hospital courtyard, having come there to seek safety from the ongoing fighting.
The explosion caused extensive loss of life and injuries, with the number of victims varying significantly according to different sources – Palestinian authorities reported hundreds of dead, while other estimates were lower.
Immediately after the incident, conflicting information emerged about the cause. Palestinian sources blamed an Israeli strike, while the Israeli side stated that it was a failed rocket launched by a Palestinian armed group.
