DAMASCUS, SYRIA – MAY 19, 2026 Car bomb exploded near a building connected to the Ministry of Defense. According to authorities, one soldier was killed and another 12 people were injured. The incident took place while an army unit was attempting to neutralize a suspicious explosive device found near the facility.
The powerful blast was heard in several parts of the city, and gunfire was also heard in the area after the explosion. Although the security situation in Syria has partially calmed down after the fall of Bashar al-Assad, similar attacks and explosions in the country are still continuing.
