MOZAMBIQUE In 2017, several terrorist Islamist groups linked to the notorious ISIS spread in the Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado. These were mainly Ansar al-Sunna or ISIS-Mozambique, which the government unsuccessfully tried to fight.
When the situation began to deteriorate dramatically at the turn of 2020-2021 and the Mozambican government was losing control over its territory, it asked the Republic of South Africa for help. The request was approved, and they sent its army to the area.
The footage comes from this period. It shows South African soldiers handling the bodies of dead terrorists. They piled them up and set them on fire.
