BARCELONA, SPAIN – JUNE 10, 2026 Murder by firearm took place in the center of Barcelona on Carrer de Balmes street in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district. An unknown attacker shot a man in the head with a single shot and immediately fled the scene. The incident occurred around 9:50 in the morning in a busy area of the city, near a police facility.
Units of the Catalan police Mossos d’Esquadra arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched an investigation. The perpetrator fled after the attack and is still on the run. Meanwhile, police found part of equipment that may have belonged to the attacker in a nearby area, including items discarded near a bus stop.
Investigators are working with the version that it was a targeted killing related to organized crime. The identity of the victim had not been officially confirmed at the time of the initial reports. The case is one of several recent violent incidents in the city that have drawn increased attention from security forces.
