WAYANAD, KERALA, INDIA – JULY 7, 2026 Heavy monsoon rains caused a massive landslide in the Wayanad district of the Indian state of Kerala. The landslide struck a construction site near Meppadi, where workers became trapped beneath layers of mud and rocks.
Emergency services immediately rushed to the scene, searching for missing people and assisting the injured. According to available information, the incident claimed at least three lives, and several others were injured. Rescue operations were complicated by difficult terrain and ongoing rainfall.
