LA GUAJIRA, COLOMBIA – AUGUST 23, 2026 Three people died in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and an SUV on the Troncal del Caribe highway between Riohacha and the municipality of Camarones. The motorcycle was carrying 26-year-old Aymar Jasay Tamayo Herrera, who was riding it, 32-year-old Stefany Paola Oviedo Díaz, and Yairith Lucía Herrera Narváez. According to local media, Aymar and Stefany were partners, while Yairith was Aymar’s cousin.

Aymar Jasay Tamayo Herrera and Stefany Paola Oviedo Díaz died at the scene. Yairith Lucía Herrera Narváez was taken to a medical facility in Riohacha, where she also died.
The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Investigators are examining the circumstances of the collision, including the possibility of speeding or one of the vehicles entering the opposite lane.
