Shortly after the accident, however, another shocking incident took place at the scene. A video surfaced on social media showing a man wearing a blue helmet approaching Fatima Kaniz Ansari’s lifeless body. He grabbed her right hand and gradually removed three gold bangles from her wrist. Several other men could be seen nearby.

According to reports, the man claimed that he was taking the jewelry to keep it safe and would later hand it over to the family. The video also captured him saying that he had her mobile phone. The family later said that while the phone and a small purse were returned, the gold bangles were missing. Relatives also said that other jewelry was missing from the body, although available reports did not conclusively establish that the same man was responsible for its disappearance.

After the video was published and sparked public outrage, Kurla police launched an investigation and registered a theft case against an unidentified person. Investigators began analyzing video footage, CCTV recordings, and other available material in an effort to identify the man.

The accident itself had a tragic toll. Police arrested the bus driver, Sanjay More, and charged him with causing death by negligence. More later stated that he had no previous experience driving electric buses and had received only limited training.
