BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA – SEPTEMBER 20, 2026 17-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after an off-duty Argentine Federal Police officer opened fire during an alleged robbery attempt in Villa Tranquila in Avellaneda. At the time of the incident, the officer was working as a DiDi driver to earn extra money when, according to the police reconstruction, three young men approached him and attempted to rob him.
After the attackers noticed that the officer was carrying a firearm, a struggle reportedly broke out, during which they began assaulting him. The officer drew his service weapon and fired six shots, hitting the 17-year-old. A security camera captured him falling onto the sidewalk. One of the other suspects then attempted to drag him away but eventually left him lying in the street.
The injured teenager was taken to Fiorito Hospital, where he remains in serious condition. He has been charged in connection with the alleged robbery attempt, while the police officer is being treated as the injured party in the case. The identities of the 17-year-old and the other two alleged perpetrators have not been released.
