GUAYAQUIL, GUAYAS, ECUADOR – SEPTEMBER 14, 2026 Darwin S., 31, was shot and killed at a motorcycle parts shop in the Sauces 8 neighborhood in northern Guayaquil. The attack occurred in the afternoon near Avenida Isidro Ayora while Darwin S. was working at the business.
According to witnesses, two armed men arrived on a motorcycle and posed as food delivery drivers. They then shot Darwin S. several times and fled the scene. During their escape, their motorcycle broke down, so they abandoned it several blocks from the scene along with two helmets and, according to one source, delivery equipment. Police seized the motorcycle and are reviewing surveillance footage and other evidence.
The motive for the killing has not yet been officially confirmed, and no arrests had been reported in the available reports. According to local residents, the same business was also targeted in a shooting in March, although it has not been confirmed whether the two attacks are connected.
