Several hours later, at around 7:00 p.m., a woman who identified herself as the victim’s mother came to the front desk. She said her daughter had called her for help, telling her that her former boyfriend was about to kill her. A hotel employee went to the room, forced the door open and found the young woman lying on the floor. Police were called and determined that she was dead and had been strangled with a piece of rope.
The suspect had already left the room. Police later found him hanging from the exterior wall of the hotel on the second floor. The rope was tied to an air-conditioning drainpipe.
