YURIMAGUAS, PERU – AUGUST 10, 2024 Ivan Kizmin, a 38-year-old Ukrainian, and Lyudmila Lazarenko, a 44-year-old woman of Russian nationality, both participated in the traditional ritual of “healing of body and soul” at the “healing centre” in Loreto. The practice involves the group use of halicinogens, most often the Ayahuasca plant, which is based on shamanic traditions. It is not a weak plant, as it causes strong hallucinations.
It was under the influence of Ayahuasca and other hallucinogens that Ivan committed the crime that shocked Peru and the world. He wanted to save Lyudmila’s soul, so he murdered and dismembered her.
The treatment center distanced themselves from the case, and they stated that they had both participated in their program, but at the time of the murder they had used drugs without their supervision. Other participants stated that Ivan and Lyudmila had a warm and friendly relationship with each other. This only suggests that Ayahuasca encouraged his murderous mindset.
When the staff of the “treatment centre” heard the screams, they called the police to the scene. They found Ivan holding a bloody knife over Lyudmila’s mutilated corpse. He confessed to the crime. He said he had taken Ayahuasca and some kind of hallucinogenic mushrooms. He said he saw Lyudmila possessed by evil forces and wanted to save her soul. When he sobered up, he regretted his actions. However, he didn’t escaped the court and was remanded in custody for 9 months while the whole case is investigated.
Lyudmila Lazarenko was a woman who loved life. She lived in Thailand with her husband and two daughters. She visited Peru very often to find peace of mind.
