BACOLOD, NEGROS, PHILIPPINES – FEBRUARY 11, 2013 11-year-old girl was returning home from school when a 50-year-old construction worker noticed her. Unable to repress his disgusting paedophilic urges, he assaulted and raped her. The victim was found in critical condition by a bystander and urgently transported to hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors there pronounced her dead. Photos show her funeral.
Although no information has been released about the perpetrator’s court sentence, it is almost certain that he will spend the rest of his life in prison. The maximum penalty in the Philippines is 30 years imprisonment. However, these sentences can be cumulative and it is not uncommon for them to create a life sentence. For example, in 1999, a man in the Philippines was sentenced to 14,000 years in prison for repeatedly raping his daughter. Unfortunately, the death penalty was abolished in the Philippines in 2006.
