THARPARKAR, PAKISTAN – NOVEMBER 11, 2024 Pakistani province of Sindh has a large Hindu minority due to its border with India. The roots of the conflict between Muslims and Hindus here are long-standing due to cultural, social and economic differences. Hindus there face oppression, kidnapping, forced conversions, and forced marriages by the Muslim majority.
From time to time, tensions escalate into revenge or murder. This is the case of two Hindu girls, Hema and Venti. Although they were only 15 to 17 years old, they were victims of this long-lasting and unnecessary conflict between two religious groups.
Their bodies were found hanging from a tree near their village. According to all available reports, they should have been kidnapped and hanged by the Islamists. Some villagers said this is not the first such case they can remember. Some said they fear that the killings are slowly becoming the norm.
