BURSA, MARMARA REGION, TURKEY – AUGUST 21, 2026 In the early morning hours, a tragic traffic accident occurred in which two people died. The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Ahıska Caddesi in the Çalı district. Forty-six-year-old Yalçın Öz was making a turn when his car collided with an SUV driven by 35-year-old Gülçin Yeni.
After the collision, Öz’s car was thrown across the road, while the SUV went on to hit two parked cars. Yalçın Öz and his 47-year-old passenger, Olgun Yıldız, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Gülçin Yeni and her passenger, Yağmur Y., were injured.
Öz and Yıldız worked as security guards for the same company. At the time of the accident, they were reportedly heading to inspect another factory site.
The case later took another turn. Approximately two hours after the accident, Gülçin Yeni was found to have a BAC of 0.109% (1.09‰). She was arrested on September 11, and prosecutors are seeking a prison sentence ranging from 2 years and 8 months to 22.5 years for causing death through conscious negligence.
