VALAŠSKÉ KLOBOUKY, ZLÍN REGION, CZECHOSLOVAKIA (CZECH REPUBLIC) – AUGUST 9, 1976 On August 8, 1976 two 19-year-old high school students from Trenčín, Viera Kukulská and Tatiana Gangurová, got into a Roman-brand truck driven by 32-year-old Miroslav Somora. The girls were hitchhiking toward the High Tatras when the driver attacked them in a remote location near Trenčianska Teplá. He first repeatedly struck them with a heavy lug wrench before using a knife approximately 12 inches (30 centimeters long). He murdered both women and subsequently sexually assaulted one of them. He later transported their naked bodies and hid them at a municipal landfill in Valašské Klobouky.
