BENITO JUAREZ, MEXICO CITY – AUGUST 19, 2018 A 25-year-old woman went out to lunch with her new boyfriend (30 years old) in the Colonia Zacahuitzco neighborhood. They headed to a stand selling the popular Mexican dish Tacos. As they were enjoying their meal together, she spotted her ex boyfriend’s VW Beetle. Before she could realize what was happening, he got out and started shooting at both of them.
The woman was fatally shot in the chest and head. The man was hit in the chest. Both were dead at the scene. One of the deflected bullets struck a 15-year-old postal worker in the arm. He was taken to hospital where he was treated.
The perpetrator was identified as Luis Alberto. He had a female accomplice with him in the car. Both were arrested, but she may have played no role in the incident. Luis stated that he had been drinking alcoholic beverages all evening and when he saw his ex-partner with another man, it aroused his jealousy and he was blacked out.
