Christian village attacked by ISWAP

KOBRI, ADAMAWA STATE, NIGERIA – APRIL, 2025 Notorious terrorist organization Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) [published] photographs showing the aftermath of an attack on the Christian village of Kobri in Adamawa State, northeastern Nigeria. During the attack, the militants reportedly killed local residents, burned dozens of homes, and also destroyed a local church. ISWAP subsequently published photographs of the attack and its aftermath as part of its propaganda.

ISWAP is the West African branch of the Islamic State that emerged after breaking away from Boko Haram and operates primarily in northeastern Nigeria and the Lake Chad region. The group attacks the military, security forces, and civilian communities, and in 2025 significantly intensified its operations in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states. Northeastern Nigeria has been facing an insurgency by Islamist groups for more than 15 years, with the ongoing violence causing widespread displacement and humanitarian problems.
