STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA, USA – FEBRUARY 3, 2024 In the early hours, police officers from the Stockton department were called to the Sierra Vista Apartments complex on East 11th Street. It was reported to be a domestic violence situation, with the caller being a child who said that his father had attacked his mother.
Upon arrival, officers found a seriously injured woman with multiple stab wounds and a man who was behaving aggressively and attempted to attack them as well. He was later identified as 37-year-old Robert Anthony Cruz. Officer Mark Sonke responded professionally, and without hesitation, used his service weapon to neutralize the attacker.
The injured woman was transported to the hospital, where doctors managed to save her life, and she was soon released home. Cruz was hospitalized in critical condition, but no further updates were released.
Shockingly, five of their children, aged 3 to 16, were present at the scene and forced to witness the entire incident. Fortunately, they were unharmed, except for the psychological trauma.
