CANINDÉ, CEARÁ, BRAZIL – OCTOBER 31, 2025 Seven armed suspects were killed in a shootout during a police operation. The incident took place in the Campinas neighborhood after security forces received information about the presence of a large armed group near the local cemetery.
According to Brazilian authorities, police officers attempted to approach and check the group, but upon their arrival, the suspects opened fire on police vehicles and allegedly also used two improvised explosive devices. Police returned fire, resulting in an intense shootout. The seven wounded men were taken to a hospital, where they later died from their injuries. Other members of the group managed to flee the scene.
Investigators stated that the men who were killed had, according to the findings so far, been linked to the criminal organization Comando Vermelho. During the operation, police seized eight firearms, including an assault rifle, pistols, and revolvers, a large quantity of ammunition, and one vehicle. According to available information, no police officers were injured during the operation.
