JAKARTA, WEST JAKARTA, INDONESIA – JUNE 21, 2025 50-year-old man was literally torn apart and dragged by a Commuter Line train. As it turned out, he had no intention of committing suicide – he was simply taking a shortcut home across the tracks. He had used this shortcut many times before without incident, and this time, he was less cautious while crossing. Tragically, that lapse in judgment cost him his life.
Shocked witnesses quickly rushed to the scene. Upon realizing the man was already dead, they covered his remains with bamboo mats.
This tragedy is a sobering reminder that crossing railway tracks outside of marked areas is incredibly risky – and illegal in many places for good reason. No shortcut is worth your life. If you do choose to cross, be extremely alert: remove headphones, look carefully in both directions, and pay close attention to your surroundings. Even a simple misstep, like getting your foot stuck between the rails, can end in disaster. Stay safe – your life is irreplaceable.
