NOVA CRUZ, RIO GRANDE DO NORTE, BRAZIL – MARCH 3, 2013 On a dirt road on the outskirts of Nova Cruz, heading toward Santo Antônio, the body of a woman was found. There is no doubt she was executed – she had multiple gunshot wounds to the head, fired at close range.
The victim was identified as Maria José, though she was better known in the town by her nickname “Guarda Chuva.” Police confirmed that she had close ties to the drug scene and worked as a prostitute. Her murder is believed to be directly connected to her involvement in these circles.
