KAZAN, RUSSIA – MAY 11, 2021 Armed 19-year-old Ilnaz Galyaviev broke into the gymnasium building, in which there were 714 students and 70 employees, and started shooting. His goal was to kill as many people as possible and then himself. He was probably inspired by school shootings from the US.

In total, Galyaviev murdered 9 people and seriously injured 23. He planned to shoot himself after the event. He couldn’t do it. He was arrested by the police and subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment.
