YALOVA, TURKEY – DECEMBER 29, 2025 Large-scale counterterrorism operation targeting an ISIS cell took place in Turkey’s Yalova Province near the city of Istanbul. The raid was part of a nationwide operation launched by security forces after receiving information about possible attacks planned for the New Year’s holiday period.
During the raid, a gunfight broke out between police officers and the suspects. Three police officers and six alleged ISIS members were killed in the confrontation. Another seven officers sustained minor injuries.
The operation lasted several hours and led to the closure of part of the area. Turkish authorities stated that the objective of the raid was to prevent coordinated terrorist attacks that were allegedly planned to take place in several provinces across the country.
