PITIMBU, PARAÍBA, BRAZIL – MAY 31, 2026 Brazilian police are investigating the murder of Joelson Gabriel dos Santos, known by the nickname “Boemia,” whose body was found on Rua do Povo in the Acaú neighborhood. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. At the time of the attack, he was wearing the work uniform of a municipal sanitation employee.
The case has drawn significant attention because the perpetrators left a handwritten note beside the body that read, “Perverts get bullets.” The message immediately sparked speculation about the motive, but police emphasized that the allegation in the note remains unsubstantiated. Investigators have found no evidence so far linking the claim to the victim or confirming that it was connected to the killing.
Military Police officers secured the area so forensic experts could collect evidence and examine the scene. Detectives launched a search for the suspects and are interviewing witnesses who may be able to help determine what happened and establish the true motive behind the attack.
Although the murder has caused widespread concern in the region, no suspects have been arrested. Brazil’s Civil Police continue to investigate, seeking to identify those responsible and determine whether the note left beside the body was genuinely connected to the crime or was intended to mislead investigators about the real motive.
