CHARLOTTE DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, NORTH CAROLINA, USA – JANUARY 27, 2025 Tragic incident occurred at gate B19 at Charlotte Douglas Airport that claimed the life of an American Airlines employee. As the aircraft handling vehicle was backing up, he was in the driver’s blind spot and was run over. It all took place in front of dozens of witnesses who saw it from the plane.

Emergency services immediately arrived at the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

Accidents like this are very rare at airports, but they still happen from time to time. The investigation is being handled by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). American Airlines has expressed sorrow over the incident.
