The patient suffered a head injury when he was burned by an electric current. As a result, the skin on the top of his head necrotized. There was a large hole all the way into his skull.
Plastic surgeons decided to use a technique called skin grafting. It’s actually a skin auto-transplant. They removed some of the skin from his leg and put it on his head where it was missing. The surgery took five hours and was successful.
