MANAUS, BRAZIL – SEPTEMBER 23, 2019 25-year-old Fernanda Caroline Chaves Pinho, known as “Barbie,” was shot on Monday night outside the nightclub where she worked as an escort. Hitman of the Família do Norte Cartel (FDN) approached her on the street and, with four shots from a .380 caliber pistol, hit her three times in the head and once in the back.

In 2016, Barbie was arrested in Porto Alegre with 40 kilograms of marijuana, for which she received a sentence of 5 years and 10 months. However, she escaped from Campo Grande prison by jumping over the wall. In Manaus, she continued engaging in drug trafficking using false documents. Allegedly, she also served as bait to lure rival traffickers, who were then executed.

Fernanda allegedly worked for the notorious drug cartel Comando Vermelho (CV). Her murder was ordered by Marcelinho do Centro, who is the brother-in-law of Roberto Fernandes Barbosa, one of the main members of the Família do Norte (FDN) cartel. The police managed to arrest Marcelinho and bring him to justice.
