NOVA IGUAÇU, RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – FEBRUARY, 2026 On February 11, 2026, a group of four men attempted an armed robbery of a pickup truck. They cut off the female driver and forced her to stop. Then they jumped out of the car and started shooting. Although they likely only wanted to add gravity to the situation and it wasn’t targeted, one of the bullets hit the driver’s daughter, who was sitting inside the car. Sadly, the 8-year-old girl did not survive her injuries.

The police began investigating the case with great intensity and soon identified three suspects: 19-year-old João Vitor Teixeira Araújo, 25-year-old Lucas Pereira dos Santos Plínio, and 23-year-old Weslley Oliveira de Souza. All of them had prior criminal records for serious offenses, such as murder, robbery, illegal possession of a weapon, etc.

Before the police could detain them, this information reached the gang that controls the territory where the robbers lived. They ensured that they received justice according to the gang’s rules – all were executed without mercy.
Gangs are certainly no saviors or protectors of morality. They protect primarily their own interests through such actions. Any police attention is unacceptable to them. The risk that the police would come to their territory for four murderers was far too high for them.
