RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – JUNE, 2025 Body of a young man was discovered in the ocean near Rio de Janeiro’s coast. Authorities soon identified him as 22-year-old Kauan da P. Gomes, a mototaxi driver from the Jacarepaguá district. Kauan went missing on the evening of June 10 while on a ride to the nearby Anil neighborhood with a passenger. Since both areas are known to be dominated by competing gangs, police suspect that his killing could be related to gang rivalry. The investigation is ongoing as officials work to uncover the full circumstances behind his death.
