BRAZIL Brazilian teenager known online as Strawberry Panic, sometimes spelled Straw Berry Panic, commits suicide during a video call with her friend. He’s records the whole situation.
She sips large amounts of sodium nitrite, a substance commonly used in the food industry. In small amounts it is harmless and beneficial, but in large amounts it can cause methaemoglobinaemia, the ability of the blood to carry oxygen.
