BAKHMUT, DONETSK REGION, UKRAINE – OCTOBER 3, 2026 Ukrainian FPV drone operator captured the brutal reality of the war in Ukraine. A Russian soldier killed in a drone strike was later scavenged by a feral cat, which gnawed on the stump of his right leg.
Animals are among the often-forgotten victims of war. Many are left behind when their owners are forced to flee during rapid evacuations. Others become frightened by the constant sound of explosions and wander away. Left on their own, they are forced to survive in the wild and rely on their natural instincts.
