PHULBARI, DINAJPUR, BANGLADESH – AUGUST 18, 2026 9-year-old Shipa Moni died after she was struck by a speeding bus while on her way to school. The girl was crossing the road with her mother, Rikta Parvin, who works at the same school.
The accident happened at around 7:45 a.m. Shipa was struck by a bus traveling from Dinajpur to Birampur, which fled the scene after the collision. Local residents took the critically injured girl to a hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
Following her death, local residents blocked the road for an hour and demanded the driver’s arrest. The blockade caused major traffic disruptions, with hundreds of vehicles becoming stranded on both sides of the road.
