CACHOEIRO DE ITAPEMIRIM, ESPÍRITO SANTO, BRAZIL – MARCH 30, 2025 Couple was killed, and two people, including a child, were injured in a crash on BR-482 involving three vehicles. According to witnesses and police reports, the accident occurred when one of the vehicles lost control after a side collision, crossed the center lane, and collided head-on with an oncoming car. The force of the impact was so great that one of the cars overturned and plunged into a ravine by the side of the road.

The victims who lost their lives were identified as Guiné Silva and Joana Brazil. Both were originally from the state of Rio de Janeiro but had been living in Pacotuba, in the south of Espírito Santo, for some time. Joana was found with her head trapped in the wreckage, while her boyfriend, Guiné, was thrown several feet from the vehicle and found lifeless at the scene.

Their child, who was traveling in the car with them, miraculously survived. Rescuers managed to free the child from the wreckage and transport them to the hospital, where they are now expected to be in stable condition.

The driver of another vehicle involved sustained only minor injuries.

Preliminary police investigations suggest that excessive speed and failure to wear seat belts were major contributing factors to the crash. This tragedy serves as yet another stark reminder of the deadly consequences of reckless driving.
