ONGOLE, ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA – AUGUST 16, 2026 Tragic elevator accident occurred in which a 50-year-old woman named Vineeta died. The incident took place at the Sai Surya Apartments residential complex in the Market Centre area.
Vineeta was riding the elevator with her daughter and grandson. When the elevator reached their floor, her daughter and grandson got out. However, as Vineeta was also stepping out of the elevator, the cabin suddenly began moving downward while its doors remained open. The woman subsequently became trapped between the elevator and the floor.
Residents of the building helped free her and she was subsequently taken to a hospital. Despite receiving medical treatment, Vineeta succumbed to her injuries. The incident raised questions about the elevator’s technical condition and maintenance.
