JIWANI, PAKISTAN – MARCH 15, 2026 Video has appeared on the internet that is supposed to capture an attack by armed men on a post of the Pakistani Coast Guard. According to available information, the militants were supposed to arrive on motorcycles and then begin coordinated gunfire, during which three members of the unit were killed.
The organization BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army) claimed responsibility for the attack. It is an armed separatist group operating in the Pakistani province of Balochistan, which has long been seeking to separate this region from Pakistan. Balochistan is an area rich in mineral resources, but at the same time it belongs among the poorest and least developed parts of the country, which is one of the reasons for long-term tension.
The BLA claims that Pakistan economically exploits Balochistan and suppresses the local population. The attacks therefore target Pakistani security forces, the army, and sometimes also infrastructure or projects that are being built in the region. The group is considered a terrorist organization by the Pakistani government.
