VIENNA, AUSTRIA – OCTOBER, 2024 Tragic incident occurred in Vienna, where a 17-year-old boy died while engaging in the dangerous activity known as “subway surfing.” Along with three other young people, aged 13 to 18, he climbed onto the roof of a moving U4 train. Just before the Schönbrunn station, two of them collided with a pedestrian bridge, leading to serious injuries. The 17-year-old succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, while the 18-year-old remained in critical condition.
The other two young people, aged 13 and 16, were largely unharmed. The entire incident was filmed and, despite the tragic outcome, the video made its way onto the internet.
Vienna’s public transportation company, Wiener Linien, warned against such dangerous activities and urged people to avoid risky stunts and sharing such videos online.
