SOSNOGORSK, KOMI REPUBLIC, RUSSIA – APRIL 21, 2025 44-year-old man was drinking alcohol with his girlfriend inside their apartment when a heated argument broke out. In a fit of rage, he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her five times.
Once the adrenaline wore off and he realized what he had done, he called for medical help and the police – but not to surrender. He intended to commit suicide by cop.
When police and paramedics arrived, he was holding the knife and ignored all police commands, including a warning shot. He even began advancing toward one officer, forcing the officer to fire his service weapon.
The incident had a relatively positive outcome. Doctors managed to save his girlfriend, and the attacker was not fatally shot. Since his girlfriend chose not to press charges, the court sentenced him to only two and a half years of forced labor.
