MARICOPA, ARIZONA, USA – FEBRUARY 27, 2025 Keith Tyler Prock, 38, who has several warrants out for his arrest, was spotted by officers at the Circle K gas station on John Wayne Parkway. When he spotted the officers, he attempted to run away and in the process pulled out a gun and shot one of the officers several times.
Two detectives in an unmarked vehicle also joined the chase, all returning fire. While one detective shot Prock from the passenger seat, the other detective tried to hit him down with his car, but Prock fell to the ground, running him over. He died at the scene.
The officer who was shot was transported to the hospital in serious condition. Doctors were able to put him in stable condition and he is now out of life-threatening danger.
The detectives involved in the pursuit were placed off duty and given paid leave. This is standard procedure in such cases until the investigation is complete. But they’re unlikely to be charged with anything.
Prock had a rich criminal history. He was released from prison in January 2024, where he had been placed for assault, robbery and shooting at a building.
