LIMA, PERU Elderly man set out early in the morning to pick up some bread from a nearby grocery store. On his way home, he chose to cross a busy road to save time, where traffic had come to a standstill. As he passed directly in front of a bus, he was so close to the vehicle that the driver couldn’t see him. Tragically, the bus began moving forward just at that moment, running over the man and fatally crushing him. Incident occurred in the suburbs of Lima, in San Juan de Lurigancho.
Whether you are pedestrians or drivers of small vehicles, it is important to realize that if you stand in close proximity in front of a bus or a truck, the driver usually has no chance to see you. Unfortunately, accidents like these happen more often than they should and usually end tragically.
