SOBRAL, BRAZIL – APRIL 22, 2016 When Maria da Conceição Sousa, 60, did not leave her apartment in the Pedrinhas neighbourhood for a whole day, her observant neighbours called the police and fire brigade to the scene. It had only been one day since they had seen her, but in her case it was too much. She reportedly spent most of her time outside her apartment every day talking to her neighbors.
All fears were confirmed when the firefighters broke down the door to her apartment. She was lying dead on the floor. She had already been beaten by someone with blows to the face, which was subsequently confirmed by forensic experts.
The case was never solved and the perpetrator was never caught. The motive was probably robbery.
