KUWAIT – FEBRUARY, 2017 Photos show the body of a dead foreign worker from the Philippines. She was executed by hanging in Kuwait for allegedly causing the death of her employer’s daughter. After a month in the morgue, her body was sent wrapped in a blanket back to her family in the Philippines. The victim’s family believes that the blanket signifies disrespect for her dead body. They also complained that her employer is refusing to pay the family her final wages.
Sadly, there are many similar cases in countries like Kuwait. Wealthy families usually import maids from cheap countries like the Philippines. In many cases, they are treated like slaves. There are even cases of physical abuse. Kuwaiti justice almost always sides with the Kuwaitis.
In a case such as this, it is therefore reasonable to doubt whether her death was justified.
